Ector County is located in west Texas, bounded by Andrews, Winkler, Midland, Crane and Ward counties.  Odessa is the county seat and largest city in the county and organized in 1887.  Other cities include West Odessa and Gardendale.  Ector and Midland Counties form the Odessa-Midland Metropolitan Statistical Area.  Odessa is home to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Home Page, and Odessa College.  Major industries are mining, trade and services.
